Students interested in pursuing graduate school in psychology are especially encouraged to engage in research with faculty.
Students may enroll for 1-3 credits of PSYC 489 each semester, and apply up to 6 credits toward their major.
There are two ways to find PSYC 489 opportunities:
- Respond to recruitment announcements through the Psychology Majors' listserve.
- Contact specific faculty whose research interests you to inquire if they have any openings for a research assistant. Research experiences are available with faculty in the following areas:
Faculty or members of their research team will interview students before allowing them to join the lab. There are often more interested students than positions, so treat the process as you would a job interview process and keep trying if you don't get a research assistant opportunity right away.
After a faculty member agrees to let you join her or his research team, you and that faculty member must complete a PSYC 489 contract and an Add slip.
