2020 Department of Psychology Staff Awards


“I give my sincere thanks to all our psychology staff members for their continued service, especially during these challenging times,” said Deb Welsh, professor and head of the department. “Staff are the lifeblood of our department and keep us running. We are fortunate to have some of the best staff on campus.”

Outstanding Staff Award

This year’s Outstanding Staff Award goes to Sandy Thomas. Sandy’s nominator noted that she works hard behind the scenes to keep our undergraduate program running smoothly, enrolling students in courses, securing rooms, and archiving syllabi, among many other duties. Through it all, she is accessible and happy to help. The award committee agreed that her hard work is certainly worthy of recognition. Congratulations, Sandy!

Staff Years of Service Awards

Charlotte Berry has completed 15 years of service to the university. She served for six years at the UT Medical Center, and joined the Psychological Clinic nine years ago. Charlotte currently serves as administrative support to our Psychological Clinic. She assists clients, students, and clinic leadership and provides efficient and important service to our clients.

Christy Lynch has celebrated 15 years of service to the university and to the Department of Psychology. She currently serves as administrative/bookkeeping support to our Psychological Clinic. Christy assists clinic clients, graduate students, and our clinic leadership with day-to-day operations of the clinic. Christy left us for a while to work outside UT, and we were thrilled when she decided to return! She is an integral part of our clinic, and we are very grateful that she has chosen to spend her UT service years with us.

Connie Ogle has celebrated 35 years of service to the University of Tennessee. She joined the Department of Psychology in September 1984. She has worked as assistant to the department head since January 1989. She has served as staff and work study supervisor and Graduate Programs Coordinator since 1997. Connie assists our faculty, staff, and graduate students with all of the day to day operations of the department.

We are grateful for the longstanding service of these staff members. We are extraordinarily lucky to have such committed, competent, and caring staff in psychology.
