Counseling Graduate Student Erica Peppers Receives National Awards

 

Erica Peppers, a fifth year doctoral candidate in the counseling psychology program who works under the mentorship of Professor Jioni Lewis received the 2020 Michael Sullivan Diversity Scholarship, which is an award to support research/training and community projects in the area of diversity/multiculturalism. In addition, Erica also received the 2020 Association of Black Psychologists Student Research Award, which is a $500 award to support graduate student research focused on African American populations.

These awards will support Erica's dissertation research, which is focused on exploring the association between gendered racism and salivary alpha amylase (a biomarker of chronic stress) among African American women.
