Courses Taught: Faculty-led Study Abroad (Social, Multicultural, and Cultural Psychology), Social and Emotional Intelligence, Adolescent Development, University Honors Seminars (Wired to Connect, Meditation), Mindfulness

Interests: Organizational/Personal Development, Social/Emotional Intelligence, Adolescent Development and Emerging Adulthood, Mother-Daughter Dyads, Mindfulness

Dr. Yates graduated with her Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology with a concentration in Industrial/Organizational Psychology.  Her undergraduate degree is in engineering from Vanderbilt University. She also teaches in the Haslam College of Business and is an Executive Coach in the Haslam Leadership Development Programs for Executive Education. Dr. Yates is a principal in Development Concepts and the founder of Reach & Thrive as well as a Rule 31 Mediator with a family and organization mediation practice. She and her late husband have two daughters and have made East Tennessee their home for over thirty years.
