Assistant Professor

Keywords: eye movements, visual perception, visual attention, visual working memory, transsaccadic perception, transsaccadic updating, transsaccadic visual stability

Education

PhD, University of Iowa (2015)

Research

Research Interests

The mechanisms of transsaccadic visual stability and updating, the relationship between visual working memory and saccadic eye movements, neural mechanisms underlying transsaccadic updating

Research Statement

My main research program focuses on perception and memory across saccadic eye movements. Specifically, I study the mechanisms by which our visual system achieves a continuous perception of the visual world despite the disruptions created by saccades. I am also interested in the role of visual working memory in transsaccadic visual stability and how peripheral and foveal information affect each other. To investigate these topics, my lab employs behavioral, eye tracking, and neural (functional near-infrared spectroscopy) measures.
