Research statement
My interest in personality assessment centers on the development of work-and school-based instruments for measuring such traits as introversion-extraversion, openness, optimism, conscientiousness, empathy, career decidedness, and work drive. I have been creating and validating construct measurement systems contextualized for use in a variety of organizations. I am also examining how the predictability of job-, school- and career-related behavior can be improved using more situationally grounded personality measures. Most recently, I have been developing a system for predicting career fit variables from personality constructs. My orientation is interactionist, emphasizing the unique and joint effects of traits and situations. All of these measurement systems are offered via the Internet as well as paper-and-pencil. Data collection is ongoing from a variety of middle and high schools as well as companies in a 24 different countries.
